| Subject: | Which font is best for OCR? |
The best font to use with the Vision Guide OCR package is SEMI. This font is specifically designed for marking items to be read by OCR. Digits and characters are designed to minimize ambiguity.
There are two SEMI standards for fonts: M12-0998 and M13-0998. These both specifiy a specific font, number of characters to be read, and size.
With Vision Guide OCR, you can specifiy a SEMI font and also specify how many characters are in the string to be read and the size. When you Calibrate the font, the font size is scaled.
To use a SEMI font, create an OCR object. Then click on the Create Font property button and specify SEMI font (which is default). Fill in the data prompted by the Wizard. Click on the Help button or see the manual for details.
