Due to the linear nature of their movements, Cartesian robots are inherently more accurate than rotary motion style robots such as the SCARA. However, typical Cartesian robots have offered a trade-off of lower speed for this greater repeatability. In addition, in the past, Cartesian robots have tended to be larger units, requiring bigger workcells that take up more factory floor space. Not any longer.

The XM3000 Series is our third generation of Cartesian robots and yet another example of how EPSON has listened intently to customer feedback . Available in two standard sizes the XM3064 has a 600 x 400 mm XY work envelope while the XM3106 has a 1000mm x 600mm envelope. Both units come standard with the same style 150mm Z axis and +/- 360 degree tool rotation axis as the E-Series SCARA robots. And, as with the E-Series SCARA Robots, an optional 300mm Z-Axis is also available. The XM3000 is also available in a variety of other sizes and configurations such as 2 and 3 axis models.

    - Z axis as linear slides with or without U- axis: Z-stroke 100mm
    - Mirrored model
    - Axes can also be configured for 2 or 3 axis models

Speed and Repeatability

Rather than provide another low cost, low performance linear modules solution, EPSON's innovative design teams have come up with something the automation world has never seen before, a four axis Cartesian Robot that is both accurate and fast. The XM3000 Series has an XY repeatability of + 0.015mm or 0.0006 in and a standard 1" by 12" cycle time of 0.5 Seconds, including 180 degrees of tool rotation on pick-up and another 180 degrees upon placement.

Innovative Drive Design - Increases Speed, Decreases Footprint

Unlike other Cartesians mechanisms which fix their motors to the end of the X and Y axes and spin a lead screw for positioning, the XM3000 has fixed lead screws and the motors are attached to a carriage which rides the lead screw. This has allowed EPSON to continue to offer robot models with large work envelopes, at the same time reducing the robot footprint, which results in a much more efficient use of valuable factory floor space.

Faster Homing

The XM3000 robots X and Y axes now "home" in the center of their lengths to minimize start up time.

Lower Cost

In re-engineering the venerable XM5000 Series, the XM3000 has also resulted in a nearly 25% reduction in cost, while more than doubling the robots rated cycle time! Contact us for a price quotation at info@robots.epson.com.

Powerful Yet Easy to Use Controls

With our new EPSON RC+ Controller, we have redefined the term easy to use. Many of our customers have experienced significant reductions in development time due to the ease with which our robots can be programmed.
