3 Axis EZ Modules

3 Axis EPSON EZ Modules come available in Heavy configurations only at this time. However, medium configurations are coming soon. The primary difference between the Heavy and Medium configurations is that the rigidity and thus the payload capability is much more for the Heavy modules vs. the Medium version. The Heavy modules have a maximum payload of 15Kg where the Medium modules will have a smaller payload (yet to be finalized). The Heavy modules also have a top speed of 1500mm/sec. The Medium EPSON EZ modules have a smaller footprint as well which can prove beneficial when it comes to cell layout and floorspace.

EPSON EZ Modules are connected directly to our RC420 or RC520 PC Based controllers using the same cabling as our E2 Series robots. Up to 12 axes can be run from one RC520 controller and up to 4 axes can be run from one RC420 compact controller. Regardless of which controller you choose you can rest assured that it will have enough power available to act as a workcell controller and thus control much more than only the modules.

EPSON EZ Modules are ideal for simple pick and place applications but they can also be used for many different jobs like sealant or glue laying applications, parts handling and even precision assembly tasks.

3 Axis "Heavy" (RP-HMSz) EPSON EZ Modules Specifications

The RP-HMSz (Heavy) 3 Axis EPSON EZ Modules are made with speed and flexibility in mind. They incorporate high torque AC servo motors for reduced maintenance and our high performance servo system available only with the RC420 and RC520 PC based controllers. This combination of rigid mechanical arms along with our high performance servo system yields the best solution available for linear modules today. The 1st Axis (X Axis) uses an RH "Heavy" module and the 2nd axis (Y Axis) uses an RM "Medium" module. The Y Axis is attached to the carriage of the X Axis. The Y Axis moves in a horizontal direction and carries the Z Axis (3rd Axis) mounted to the carriage which runs along its side. The Z Axis then runs up and down in a vertical manner. RP-HMSz models come with X Axis lengths available from 400-1000mm, Y Axis lengths from 350-750mm and Z Axis lengths from 200-400mm. With this many combinations of sizes you are sure to find one that fits your specific application needs. However, if you need a different configuration please give us a call.

Powerful Controls

EPSON is the leader in PC based controls with 2 basic offerings: the RC420 compact PC based controller, and the RC520 expandable PC based controller. Both the RC420 and RC520 controllers are based on our easy to use EPSON RC+ Robot Control Software. The fundamental difference between the 2 controllers is size (the RC420 is a single box controller just a little larger than an industrial PC and the RC520 is a 2 box solution) and expandability (the RC420 has 4/3 available ISA/PCI slots but the RC520 has 7 ISA and 4 PCI slots available for expansion). The RC420 is capable of controlling up to 4 EZ module axes whereas the RC520 can control an impressive 12 EZ module axes. As a leader in PC based controls, our products not only give access to the thousands of 3rd party products available for the PC but we have focused on ease of use to help reduce learning and development time. As a result, many of our customers have experienced significant reductions in development time due to the ease with which our robots can be programmed. With integrated options such as Vision Guide for robot guidance and inspection applications, VB Guide Active X controls, Ethernet I/O, Force Sensing and others, EPSON RC+ is not only easy to use but also flexible in the different applications it helps to solve.

Easy to Assemble

EPSON EZ Modules are designed for easy assembly. Just follow the setup instructions in the EPSON EZ Modules manual and in a matter of a few hours your EPSON EZ Modules will be ready to begin using. Obviously, the single axis configurations are easier to configure but regardless of whether you choose 1, 2 or 3 axis models they are all easy to assemble due to the fact that many of the sub-assemblies are already pre assembled to help reduce overall setup time. And in the event that you have some questions, help is just a phone call away within our customer service Dept. (562) 290-5920. T

Absolute Encoders

All EPSON EZ Modules Axes come standard with Absolute Encoders. This means that they don't have to be sent to a home position when first powering the controller up. This can save valuable time during startup each day. Just power the RC420 or RC520 controller on, and the EPSON EZ Modules are ready to begin their work for the day.
